These are taken after a workshop, I will post the pictures from the workshop in the next update.
For this shoot, because I had wanted to use a long telephoto lens, it would be very inconvenient and time wasting if I had to walk forward and back to adjust the flash every time the model moves.
To make the lighting more user-friendly, I opted to use a medium sized bounce brolly-box, the main reason for this is because of the large and soft light it creates. Which basically means I can be a bit more lazy…this is as dummy-proof as off camera flash gets!!
A larger sized brolly-boc would of course achieve an even better coverage, but it will act like a sail and blow over from the slightest wind.
Using the 1-arm rule as a guide to place and direct the light, a large, soft, yet directional lighting was easily achieved. The pictures below also shows the difference between using flash as fill and flash as main.
